Cooking Class in Modica and Tasting Modican Chocolate

In a 3-hour class, you will cook a 3 course menu under the close supervision of chef Davide Minerva. You will cook traditional dishes such as “Arancino” filled with grilled eggplants, Ragusano cheese and horse meat,gnocchi with ricotta cheese and pork meat sauce, orange tuile, almond cream, pistachio and Modican chocolate. At the end of the cooking class you will enjoy your special meal.

Baroque, Aromatic Plants And Chocolate

Pick up in hotel by your English speaking driver. Then, a transfer will take you to the south-east area of Sicily through the late Baroque Towns, whose heritage, both for importance and beauty, has been declared World Heritage by the UNESCO. The first stop will be Scicli to visit “Gli Aromi Farm” where the owner Enrico will meet you. This farm cultivates autochthon plants and aromatic herbs. It also holds an important leadership position in sales and marketing, focusing on local species of the Sicilian coast and in particular of the Iblean area. The farm produces more than 120 different varieties of plants and herbs using old traditional methods of manual cultivation. You will sample the different varieties of herbs and see how they are used alongside other local products in Sicilian cooking for lunch. You will then be transferred during to visit Modica on your own and admire picturesque lanes and narrow streets with many old workshops, and the Church of St. George. Visit to the Antica Dolceria Bonajuto, the oldest pastry shop of Sicily, to taste the famous chocolate of Modica. The pastry chef will explain the secrets of Modican chocolate, which is produced with only two ingredients: cacao and sugar.

Pick up at hotel by your English speaking driver. You will then be taken to the city of Vittoria to visit the COS Winery. The estate decided to adopt the principles of biodynamic culture. This decision helped the owners find and keep a harmonious balance with nature. Fascinated by ancient cellar practices, COS chose to work with amphorae, clay jars that were used by the ancient Greeks. You will enjoy a tour of the winery and taste some of its wines. Afterwards, you will be transferred to Chiaramonte Gulfi for a visit of a second winery. Gulfi Winery preserves the land in order to nurture what their forefathers left and taught them: over 2000 years of history and culture. Naturality characterizes their wines, which are the fruit of traditional, organic viticulture and non-invasive vinification. A wine tasting will be held during lunch. Then, a visit of Ragusa Ibla is planned with your driver guide, admiring picturesque lanes and narrow streets with many old workshops. You will also be visiting the church of St. George and tasting typical Sicilian products at Isola nell’Isola. Finally, you will return to the hotel.

Their love for the region and its singular terroir produces some of the finest wines Italy has to offer. You will then be transferred to Vittoria and visit the COS Winery. Departure from Ragusa. Arrival in Acate and tour of the Valle dell’Acate Winery. The estate covers over 100 hectares and a large part of it, from 2001 to today, has been replanted with the area’s top wine grape varieties and other international varieties. Valle dell’Acate is able to produce a wide range of prized, modern and radiant wines such as: Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOC, Moro, Frappato, Insolia, Bidis, and the most recent Tané. All these wines are obtained by selecting the best grapes during the major harvest. Light lunch at winery and drive to Ragusa Ibla to admire with our driver guide picturesque lanes and narrow streets, with many old workshops. You will visit St. George’s Church and taste typical Sicilian products at Isola nell’Isola. Return to the hotel.

Wilderness & Baroque Tour

This experience is a full day “Wilderness and Baroque Tour” in a Land Rover Defender. This is a guided tour of Ragusa Ibla, Modica and its wild canyon (World Heritage sites of the UNESCO). In Modica, you will have the chance to taste the Cioccolato Modicano (chocolate of Modica), the Gelato Biscotto (ice-cream biscuit) and the Granita Siciliana. Then, a lunch will be served by the lake shore of Santa Rosalia. Return to the hotel in the afternoon
